What's New

Best Coast Florida Map is Here!

Last summer I was commissioned by the Editor of The Scout Guide to create a special image for her new publication in the Sarasota area.  It was a fun project, and finally an opportunity to create a painting  reminiscent of cute, old-Florida postcards beckoning folks to Florida — something I’ve wanted to do for some time.  The painting captures barrier islands of the SW coast, from Anna Maria to Boca Grande.  It also highlights fun vignettes like Tarpon fishing, boating, dolphins, shopping, oranges, water skiing, and many more (P.S. my wife’s favorite is the alligator on the golf course).

I call it “Best Coast” — makes sense to those of us who live here, right?!?  The original, 30X42 oil painting is available in my studio.  As for prints, it comes in 2 sizes of canvas prints and 1 wood sign (see below).  Check ’em out!

Redfish Fever

With all this chilly weather we’re having in Florida, it’s good to stay close to shore and fish the Intracoastal.  One of my favorite species to catch is a Redfish.  You know you’ve got something special when you feel that first tug on your line, and seeing their beautiful  copper and gold colors is a real treat.  Today I’m highlighting one of my paintings called “Waiting on the Tide” — these hungry Redfish patiently hover over a grassy flat, waiting for a nice school of baitfish to meander by in the fresh, incoming tide.

Love Your Pet Day

In honor of “Love Your Pet Day,” Phoebe shows some love to her favorite pet dog.  Cute, huh?!?  Show some love to your favorite pet today!  Meow.

Mermaid Violin

A great evening last night at a private home on Longboat Key to auction off all the violins created by 21 artists (including me).  My “Mermaid Serenede” violin was purchased by a lovely lady who just happens to love mermaids AND she lives by the sea!  All auction proceeds benefitted the Perlman Music Program-Suncoast.

And speaking of mermaids, I’ve got a new one on the easel – mermaid with a dolphin — she’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.  Stay tuned.

Scout is Out!

I was commissioned last year to create an image for The Scout Guide Sarasota – a new publication highlighting independently owned businesses in Sarasota, FL.  I decided on a fun theme – an “Old Florida” postcard, highlighting barrier islands from Anna Maria to Boca Grande, with iconic images scattered throughout.  At the release party held at The Met on St. Armand’s I got to see my painting in the beautiful, new book, for the first time.  I’m pictured below with Susan Doane, Editor of TSG-Sarasota.

My original painting is available in my studio, but prints and wood signs are on the way!

Visiting Cool Cats at Cat Depot

I stopped by to visit my feline friends at Cat Depot in Sarasota last week.  CD takes such good care of kitties in need of “forever homes” — they’re all so darned cute I was tempted to take one home, but I don’t think Max and Phoebe would be too happy about that!  Don’t forget that if you buy any of my products in the Max & Phoebe line, I’ll donate a portion of the proceeds to Cat Depot.  Our cats are pretty happy about that, since they’re rescue cats themselves!
