New Tarpon Painting “Payoff”

It’s always great when I have a chance to work on a painting for a friend who has a special connection to something.  In this case, it was my friend who had an epic day of Tarpon fishing (and I just happened to be fishing with him that day).  He got a great shot of the leaping fish on his GoPro, and asked me to re-create it so he could look at it any time he wanted to in his living room.

Using a unique size/shape canvas, it was especially fun to work on it.  When this beauty was finished, my wife and I sat back and tried to come up with a title.  We had a long list, but kept coming back to “Payoff” — we decided that, after all the hard work, dedication, hope, financial investment and time spent, it seemed only fitting that this painting be given that title.  I almost hated to deliver it to my friend because I was enjoying it so much in my studio!  But he was pretty darn happy when he saw it, and that’s just great.

Prints will be available soon!

Coastal Conservation Association Featured Artist

I’m pleased to have been selected by Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) as their Featured Artist at the October 15 event in Peace River.  I’ll be there signing limited edition lithographs and auctioning off a customized canvas print of my popular “Round ‘Em Up” gal.  CCA does great things in our community, and I’m proud to be affiliated with them.  Please check out their website for more information.

Special Mermaid for Florida Winefest & Auction

Over the summer, when the folks at Florida Winefest & Auction asked me to create a special image to showcase their 2016 events, I immediately thought of a mermaid in a wine glass.  The idea was good, but pulling it off was a little daunting, and it took me a few tries before I finally got her the way I wanted her.  When finished, I knew she was the perfect image for this special organization that supports many charities throughout Sarasota & Manatee counties in Florida.  She’s titled “Perfectly Paired” and she’s a beauty!  I unveiled the painting live on the Suncoast View TV show so check it out – it was fun!

Over the next many months you’ll see her on marketing materials advertising Winefest events.  Plus, the original painting will be auctioned off at the Grand Tasting event on March 19, 2016.  I’ll offer prints and wood signs after the big events.  Please check out Florida Winefest & Auction for information and ticket details.

Cats & Wine

I’ve been working with the folks at Florida Winefest to design their marketing materials for the 2016 season.  How fitting that Max and Phoebe have been having fun checking out the wine barrel in our backyard while I’ve been working on this project.  Those cats get into everything!

Coudal Featured in Sand Dollar July 2015

More press about yours truly! Check out Sand Dollar Magazine‘s fun article titled “Brendan Coudal – An Artist’s Journey” when you get a chance (starting on Page 9).  Hard copies can be found at businesses throughout southwest Florida, so maybe you’ll find one of those, too.

Painting in Paradise

Nice article on yours truly in the July 8 issue of the Observer.  Check out Brendan Coudal Paints Florida’s Nostalgic Paradise.  Enjoy 🙂

Best Coast Postcards Are Here!

Many folks have asked for my popular “Best Coast” painting to be made into Postcards so, at long last, here they are!

The package of 10 (same image) measures 5X7, so not only are they great for sending to your pals, you could give some away, or even frame them for heaven’s sake.  They also make great gifts for folks who love all-things-Florida.  A package is $10 bucks.  Please check ’em out!

Best Coast Postcard

For the last few weeks I’ve had some great Tarpon experiences in southwest Florida!  I haven’t yet caught “the big one” this season, but I know she’s out there, just waiting for me. . .

I’ve managed to get a few to the boat, jumped several, and got some great pics along the way — here’s just one.  One of these will surely end up as a painting!

National Hug Your Cat Day

Today is a very important day for Max & Phoebe, along with millions of other felines out there.  It’s National Hug Your Cat Day!  My wife and I hug them ALL DAY LONG, but instead of posting a pic of us hugging them, I thought I’d share one of my favorite drawings of the kitties.  Cute, huh?  Have a great day everyone (and please take some time to hug your cat)!

Guy Harvey & Brendan Coudal Meet Again

In 2004, I attended the International Game Fish Association‘s artist showcase in Dania Beach, FL.  I don’t think they hold the event any longer, unfortunately, but it was a great opportunity to see some amazing marine-life artwork.  I met some of today’s great marine-life artists including Guy Harvey, Don Ray and Carey Chen — very inspiring, to say the least.

Here’s a pic of me and Guy.  Funny to think our paths will cross again on Friday, June 5 when we’re both in Boca Grande signing limited edition posters for two special events sponsored by the Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce.  Guy will be signing his posters for the 2015 World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament, and I’ll be signing my 2015 Ladies Day Tarpon Tournament posters.  I can’t speak for his posters, but my “Bubbly Mermaid” made a big splash for the 25th anniversary of the Ladies Day event, so I’m looking forward to meeting more fans!  Hope to see you there for this “historic” event!

Tarpon Fishing is Awesome!

Yesterday was one of those epic days in Florida during Tarpon season.  I was fishing with my friend Shawn and we were surrounded by fish all morning.  We used blue crabs and the fish gobbled them up (I like to call them “Tarpon candy”).  This beauty gave us quite a show.  I captured it using my iPhone, in slo-mo video — sorry for the vertical shot, but it couldn’t be helped.  This is why I love Tarpon!  Check out the GoPro pic below and see my Angry Tarpon video, too!
